At Church in the Country, Freedom Sunday isn’t just about fireworks, fun, and food—it’s about honor. It’s about taking a moment to recognize the men and women who’ve stood on the front lines for us—at home and abroad. This year, as part of our Freedom Sunday celebration, we are proud to once again present a Country Heroes Hat to every military veteran and first responder who attends.
These custom-designed hats are simple in style but powerful in meaning. They aren’t given out lightly. They represent something far deeper: gratitude, respect, and remembrance. Whether you’ve worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces or suited up to protect our community as a firefighter, police officer, sheriff’s deputy, EMT, or paramedic, we want you to know that your service has not gone unnoticed—and it never will.
Every time you wear that hat, we hope it reminds you that there’s a church family in Tyler County who sees what you’ve done and is thankful. It’s a reminder to the community that heroes don’t always wear capes—sometimes, they wear steel-toed boots, tactical gear, turnout coats, or camouflage. And sometimes they carry trauma bags instead of briefcases, radios instead of cell phones, or weapons of protection instead of tools of convenience.
You’ve answered calls that others ran from. You’ve stood watch while others slept. You’ve sacrificed time, comfort, and safety so that others could enjoy theirs. And whether your service was one tour or a full career, one firehouse or a lifetime of shifts, we believe it matters—and we want to say so.
