Life doesn’t always feel fair. Sometimes we experience genuine injustice, while other times “that ain’t fair” simply means we didn’t get what we wanted. Jesus’ parable of the vineyard workers challenges us to examine our hearts when comparison turns someone else’s blessing into our grievance. Job’s story goes even deeper, showing us how to trust God when life truly doesn’t make sense and we never receive the explanation we wanted. When we encounter real injustice, God calls us to stand for what is right—but without allowing anger, bitterness, or revenge to change who we are. Ultimately, the cross reveals something even greater than fairness: grace. If God gave every one of us exactly what we deserved, we would all be in trouble. Instead, Jesus—the innocent One—took the punishment our sin deserved so we could receive the righteousness that belonged to Him. The Gospel isn’t about getting what’s fair. It’s about receiving mercy we could never earn.
