What we allow into our lives and what we pour into others will eventually produce a harvest. Just as America became increasingly connected to the world through what it imported and exported, our hearts and homes are constantly receiving and producing influences of their own. Jesus' parable of the soils reminds us that God's Word can easily become crowded out by worry, wealth, busyness, and distraction, while Scripture warns that we will eventually reap what we sow. Our words, attitudes, habits, entertainment, priorities, and faith are planting seeds every day—often long before we see their results. The good news is that through Jesus, our past harvest doesn't have to determine our future. Christ took the consequences our sin deserved and gives us new life through His Spirit, producing a different kind of fruit within us. If we don't like what's growing, it's time to examine what we're planting, guard what we're allowing into our hearts, and let Jesus change the soil.
