As America celebrates 250 years, remembering where we've come from matters—but knowing where we come from is not the same as knowing who we are. Moses warned God's people not to inherit blessings they didn't build and then forget the God who gave them. He called them to remember their story, preserve what was worth passing down, and teach the next generation. The same principle applies to our country, our families, and our individual lives. We can be thankful for our heritage, value what makes us unique, and honestly acknowledge the failures of the past without allowing any of those things to become our ultimate identity. Scripture points us toward something greater: people from every nation, tribe, and language united around Jesus. Our politics, success, failures, family name, pain, and even our nationality cannot ultimately define us. Our uniqueness is part of our story, but for those who belong to Jesus, our identity is found in Christ.
